Coke vs. Pepsi

The ongoing rivalry of the sodas. Two huge corporate companies, which sell basically the same product. Coke and Pepsi both have their own fans, yet both aren't fans of each other. Which was proven this weekend in front of a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania. Both companies were making a delivery for Wal Mart, when an oral argument let out. The argument escalated to an all out physical brawl. The Coke guy reportedly began pushing his cart full of the soda into the Pepsi man, while the Pepsi man popped his top by throwing numerous punches at the Coke man , breaking his nose. The companies did not comment on the brawl, but Coke has reported their delivery man is OK, yet Pepsi has admitted to firing their driver.Who knew this everlasting feud could ever get so serious? Maybe next time they'll schedule the deliveries at different times.

Hit 'N' Shop

Some people consider things that we don't understand blessings in disguise, but since when has something as terrible as someone getting it by a car become one. On October 3rd in Mesa, Arizona an elderly man was hit by a pickup truck which swerved off the road, while waiting at a bus stop. As the man was sent flying, the pickup truck sped away with a white bag attached to it's front grill. While one man who was waiting at the bus stop as well, just escaping getting hit too, quickly dropped his groceries to help the elderly man. While the elderly man lay helpless on the ground along with the gentleman who was helping him, suddenly other witnesses began to scavenge to steal both men's groceries. With not a single fruit left in sight, police say the robbers could be charged with theft if caught. The man is OK, but the emotional damage alone could last a lifetime. Something as terrible as this may have helped a homeless person have dinner that night, but does that make it right?

Who would ever think in such an intense and dangerous situation, the only thing on someones mind could be to kick someone while they're down. Not only was stealing these men's groceries immoral, it's shameful. They may have thought they got away with such a terrible act, but Karma will get around to them eventually.

Jail House Rock!

In CEBU, Philippine there has been a new past time for the inmates. Dancing! Waves of orange move and groove everyday to intricately choreographed dances to songs like Thriller by Michael Jackson or I will follow him from Sister Act. In Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center more than 1,500 inmates decided to come out and dance as a form of exercise in the exercise yard. Not only is this a form of exercise, but it's a form of rehabilitation. It teaches the inmates to work well together and follow instructions.

Going from head to toe tattooed bad asses to graceful swan like dancers. Although many of the inmates are homosexual and are kept separate from the other inmates because of the usual discrimination, not while dancing. There is an intermingling of people, which defies all prison stereotypes.

Although this does not change the fact that these are criminals with charges which range from drug charges to murder charges. They have become somewhat Internet celebrities. Security guards have filmed their precision clockwork and they have posted numerous dances of theirs on YOU TUBE, and each video receives over 100,000 hits regularly. They also dance for local communities, for entertainment and concert purposes, in which they receive small amounts of money and donations.

Almost every inmate in the prison joins in on the fun. Every inmate that is a part of this dance receives certain special privileges such as extra afternoon snacks, an occasional amount of money from donations, and an overall good time. The prisoners genuinely enjoy engaging in the dance and are seriously impressive. The goal of the program was something the inmates could consider an accomplishment and that would teach camaraderie and teamwork. But best of all they're extremely entertaining!'

When Technology Strikes!

What if one day you woke up and went to work like usual, only to find out your ipod had it out for you. Recently in Douglasville, Ga a man who works at a kiosk at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, was sitting at his desk listening to his ipod like any other day. When suddenly he looked down at his pants pocket only to see his leg was engulfed in flames. The cause was his year old ipod nano.

Thankfully Danny Williams, the victim, escaped the horrific incident unharmed due to a glossy piece of paper, which separated Danny from severe burns. The fire was one of many recent lithium-ion battery flame-ups. Sony has since been forced to recall more than seven million laptop batteries it made for its own computers as well as for Dell, Apple, Gateway, Toshiba and several others. This summer, a Chinese man was killed when his cell phone battery exploded in his chest pocket, sending a broken rib tearing into his heart.

Apple has since replaced William's ipod nano, but will that cover the traumatic damage he has suffered? Will he ever be able to enjoy an ipod the same way? Is this a sign that everyday technology such as the ipod is beginning to turn against us? Or is this some kind of crazy terror threat?

Well, probably none of the above. It's probably some faulty glitch, we are just human, people are bound to make these mistakes. All this technology is part of the world wide global market and has become increasingly expensive and in demand, but although we get so much enjoyment out of these things, should they come with such a hefty price such as injury or even death?

Mémoire

Ahh...memories! The one aspect of life that everyone has in common. Whether bitter or sweet, everyone has memories. It is something you can't fight nor deny. No matter how young or old someone is, they have a memory. Especially when older, memories become harder and harder to remember. In order to savor your life for everything it is or once was worth, it is key to keep your identity through memories. A common way of remembering and keeping your memories is through writing a memoir.
Memoirs have became popular by people who often claim themselves as celebrities and believe it is their duty on earth to keep a memoir of themselves in order to become eternal. They have often been kept by politicians and military leaders. In the eighteenth century, "scandalous memoirs" were kept by prostitutes or libertines. Many memoirs have helped us through history to expose and teach people of eye witness accounts of moments in history , such as memoirs from members of the holocaust.
The term memoir has begun to replace autobiographies, which have become outdated and much too common. Memoirs are a more sophisticated and creative way to keep a diary of memories.
Memoirs are often less structured and less formal, usually written from the first person point of view.

When Monogomy Becomes Monotomy

Most men and women all over have one goal in common, to one day become happily married and start a family together. There isn't much argument when referring to marriage, it is assumed to be monogamous. There are certain exceptions such as swingers, where the couple has agreed to have multiple partners. For the more socially accepted there are the polygamists. Polygamy is a form of marriage where the person has more then one spouse. Although not recognized as legal in many states, it is for the most part accepted.

There are also certain cases where one person in the relationship wants to remain monogamous, but the other doesn't so it results in one person cheating on another. About 60 percent of men and 40 percent of women end up cheating in a relationship. Whether your partner finds out or not it is still not accepted, but it doesn't stop anyone from doing it.

In this day and age where anything and everything can be found on the Internet, you will be able to find more than a community of people who believe cheating and having affairs while married is OK. More officially there is a website dedicated to helping married people find people to have affairs with. With Online dating websites being at all time high popularity, this website follows them exactly. You just tell the website what you want and you will be automatically matched up with someone with the same interests. With over a million members, this website is no joke. To become a member is free and it comes with a standard membership, but to extend your membership to a full one charges will apply. Since this website is for people seeking affairs, most people are concerned with what will show up on your credit card statement which most likely your spouse checks as well. So there are an array of different payment options to be more discrete.

Upon finding this website it leads me to believe that such behavior has become more and more socially accepted. This kind of behavior will often lead to divorce and with the divorce rate being 50 percent, it worries young people still looking forward to marriage. Is there still hope for the young unmarried society to one day become happily married?

The website has been on shows like Dr. Phil, 20/20, CNN, and Fox news. Although on all these shows the website has been questioned and ridiculed, the website still prides itself that any publicity is good publicity. Now that this secret website is out, is it bad for business? But more importantly is this morally correct? This is a Canadian based website, where the founder, Darrel Morganstern has been questioned numerous times, does he see the damage this website could entail or if in fact this is purely for the money? People will take any new idea and run with it just to make a penny off of it. The owner reports that this kind of behavior is inevitable, but this website just gives these people and alternate outlet. This website is advertised on billboards with the saying, "Life is short, have an affair!"
